Sugar substitutes are an essential aspect of any keto, low carb or diabetic diet. So, if you are on one of these low carb diets, you are definitely in the right place. If you have not already noticed, Monk Fruit and Erythritol are my top picks. Unlike most sugar substitutes, Monk Fruit tastes really good and does not cause gastrointestinal issues. The same is true for erythritol. However, a one hundred percent erythritol will often result in your mouth having a cool sensation. The taste is not bad at all though. And, more importantly, neither cause blood sugar levels to spike in a person with diabetes. So, with no bad aftertastes, no gastrointestinal upset, and no blood sugar spikes both of these are a triple win.
A third sugar substitute that is on my radar is Allulose. The keto cereals are made with allulose. You can read about allulose in this keto cereal review.
