This is a low carb sauteed string beans with garlic recipe that anyone can make! Just toss a few fresh ingredients into a warm skillet and you have a tasty low carb side dish. I eat greens beans occasionally to mix up my usual rotation of low carb vegetables. While canned green beans can be jazzed up a little with the right combination of seasonings, this sauteed string beans with garlic recipe requires fresh green beans or at least frozen string beans.

Since canned green beans are already cooked and salted, they are relatively soft. Typically a little too soft to be sauteed. On the other hand, fresh or frozen green beans are firm enough to saute. So, for this particular recipe, fresh is best.

This sauteed string beans with garlic recipe is prepared with a heart healthy extra virgin olive oil, pink Himalayan sea salt, black pepper, and minced garlic. Extra virgin olive oil is a fat that does not cause cardiovascular problems. Instead, it can protect against heart disease and stroke. Pink himalayan sea salt was used in this sauteed string beans with garlic recipe because is has more health benefits that regular salt and creates less of an impact on blood pressure levels. Besides the great taste it contributes to many foods, garlic provides a variety of extremely beneficial health benefits. Sauteed String Beans With Garlic Recipe

Serves: 2 | Prep: 20 Min

Ingredients:

  • Fresh String Beans (2 handfuls)
  • 1-2 tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp. Minced Garlic
  • 1/8 tsp. Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper

Preparation:

  1. After washing your fresh green beans, use a knife or a pair of scissors to cut the ends of the green beans off.
  2. Place the green beans in a small to medium-sized skillet.
  3. Add olive oil, minced garlic, sea salt and black pepper on top of the green beans.
  4. Stir the green beans until they are coated with oil and the mixture of seasonings.
  5. Place the skillet on the stove top using a medium-high heat setting.
  6. For an al dente green bean, moved them around in the skillet every 2 – 3 minutes  without a lid until cooked to your liking.
  7. For a more tender green bean, add about one tablespoon of water to the skillet and then cover it with a lid. Move the green beans around every 2-3 minutes until tender.
  8. To get a “blackened” sauteed string beans with garlic recipe, simply turn up the heat  setting on the stove and stir the strings beans often until cooked.
