“Feel Good” Turmeric Chai Latte Recipe (Keto, Low Carb)

This turmeric chai latte recipe was inspired by a combination of things. One inspiration is the fact that chai tea is currently my favorite low carb tea drink!

Then, recently I discovered and experienced some of the amazing health benefits of turmeric. So, for a short while I was torn between making a chai latte or a turmeric latte to enjoy during the day.

There is a delicious creamy turmeric latte recipe in SIMPLE. So, I ended up using this recipe to make it into a turmeric chai latte recipe. I have been drinking this tea combo for months now and it leaves me feeling nothing but good!

In fact, my brother recently stopped by for a visit complaining that he had a migraine. So, I whipped up a quick version of this turmeric chai latte recipe for him to help alleviate his headache. Well, after about an hour, he asked for another cup because he noticed that it had given him relief.

The next day he stopped by trying to make another cup. He was really enjoying the taste and the results of this tea combo. So, I decided to share this delicious keto-friendly low carb turmeric chai latte recipe!


This turmeric chai latte recipe is what I will call a triple win!

First, before you ever drink it, the wonderful aroma captures you. With chai tea health benefits include having multiple herbs and spices that improve lung health, the drink makes you want to take a deep breath and relax. This effect immediately lightens your mood.

Then, when you drink the creamy latte, the wonderful taste matches the wonderful smell! So, it is a very pleasant tasting drink.

And lastly, with the added cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper, you are sure to get some pain relief! Likely from aches and pains that you may not even realize that you have. So, this turmeric chai latte recipe is literally a “feel good” drink!

Turmeric Chai Latte Recipe

The Recipe

1 Double Spice Chai Latte

1/2 Tsp. Organic Turmeric

1/8 Tsp. Black Pepper

1/4 Tsp. Ceylon Cinnamon

1/2 C. Brewed Coffee

1/2 C. Water

1/2 C. Unsweetened Almond Milk

1 – 2 Tbsp. Sugar-Free Vanilla Coffee Creamer (Keto Substitute: Vanilla Swirl MCT Oil)

1 Tbsp. Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil (Omit if using MCT Oil.)

Preparation:

  1. Add water. coffee, milk, creamer, and MCT Oil (or Unrefined Coconut Oil) to a small pot.
  2. Stir occasionally while bringing the mixture to a light boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add one tea bag to the mixture and cover with a lid to let steep for about 3 minutes.
  4. Use a spoon to press the tea bag. This will help you intensify the flavor by extracting more chai tea from the bag.
  5. Next, remove tea bag and pour the latte mixture into a medium-sized coffee cup.
  6. And finally,  add turmeric, black pepper, and cinnamon.
  7. Stir and enjoy the turmeric chai latte while it is still warm.

Conclusion

If you are not on the keto diet, you can omit the coconut oil. To me, the drink tastes just as good with or without the oil. However, keep in mind that there are many health benefits to eating coconut oil which ironically includes weight loss.

You can also make this recipe in the microwave using a microwave safe mug. Especially if you are omitting the oil. Coconut (MCT) oil blends into the drink much better when it is brought to a boil on the stove. Either way, this drink is a great way to mix things up on a keto low carb diet!
