Health Benefits of Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar

Health Benefits of Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar

The health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar are vast and historically reported on from over 6,000 years ago. While drinking apple cider is a popular beverage when the air becomes cool, and the leaves fall, we are not discussing that kind of apple cider. We are sharing the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar “with mother.”

Before you get online to order a bottle of apple cider vinegar to drink, keep in mind that apple cider vinegar is considered to be a weak acid. Therefore, apple cider vinegar must be diluted first! And, if you decide to make it a regular part of your low carb diet routine, I suggest that you use a straw to protect your teeth. A basic dilution consists of adding 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a 16 ounce bottle of water. Or you can select “on-the-go”  apple cider vinegar.

Since apple cider vinegar is a mild acid, I will put some of your concerns to rest by sharing some of the amazing health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar. In doing some fresh research, I may be adding a lot more of this medicine to my low carb diet plan.  So, I may be experimenting with some low carb apple cider vinegar recipes.

How It Is Made

Apple cider vinegar “with mother” is one of the healthy low carb diet drinks that we promote. It is an unsweetened, unfiltered, non-alcoholic beverage that is made from fermented apples. In fact, this vinegar is very low carb because the fermentation process greatly reduces the amount of sugar that is typically found in apple cider tea and apple juice.

Apples that have undergone fermentation produce beneficial digestive enzymes and probiotics (good bacteria needed in the gut). Therefore, raw apple cider vinegar “with mother” will have a murky-looking appearance. The murky stuff contain the beneficial components of the apple cider vinegar that are discussed later. Therefore, clear-looking filtered vinegars do not have the health benefits that are being discussed.

One of the  health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is that it enhances the ability to lose weight and keep it off. It does so in several ways. Apple cider vinegar “with mother” is low carb, reduces cravings, promotes weight loss, and improves general well-being.  Therefore, as a researcher, this is one of my lengthier post – but for good reason. So, if you start at the end, you may be inspired to keep reading.

1. Improves Digestion

The stomach releases hydrochloric acid to help break down food. However, with age, stress, depression, and other environmental factors our body can stop making enough digestive enzymes to break down our food properly. This can result in undigested food hanging out in our gut instead of being used for fuel. In addition, it can result in bad bacteria growing inside the gut. Well, one of the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is that it helps us digest our food and destroy bad bacteria. In this way, drinking apple cider vinegar becomes a win-win.

2. Improves Natural Energy to Burn More Calories

Because of this, apple cider vinegar can also help our physical well-being in a number of ways. When our food does not get digested properly, we can not produce as much energy. And as a result, we become tired and lethargic. This in turn can cause us to gain weight because we are too tired to move around as much. In the end, we can get caught in a loop of health problems. Lack of exercise can lead to diabetes and high-blood pressure because our entire system slows down. Therefore, it is in this way, apple cider vinegar can help us burn more calories by allowing our body to better produce it own natural energy.

3. Helps Regulate Blood Sugar Levels

One of the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is that it can help regulate blood sugar levels. Although complex things are involved, drinking apple cider vinegar assist in regulating blood sugar levels by improving our food digestion, increasing our natural energy, and reducing food cravings.

4. Reduce High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is controlled by the kidney’s ability to remove excess sodium. Apple cider vinegar “with mother” is low carb and sodium free. Therefore, any sodium free liquid that we drink should help lower blood pressure in a person with fully functioning kidneys. Once the kidney function stops, water intake is contraindicated. However, we can endeavor to lower blood pressure by exerting ourselves unless contraindicated by our health.

5. Improves Immunity

One of the most noteworthy health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is that it naturally strengthens the immune system in a profound way. As you will discover in more detail, apple cider vinegar is a broad spectrum antibiotic. When our gut becomes filled with its own bad bacteria, it weakens our immune system. Therefore, we become more prone to getting sick. So, when we drink apple cider vinegar when we are sick, it can shorten the length of time that we are sick. Or, if we drink it regularly, we may keep ourselves from getting sick.

6. Detoxification (mild laxative & antibacterial)

Another one of the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is that it can induce a mild laxative effect. However, this mild laxative effect can vary between individuals depending on their overall gut health. When a person takes an prescribed antibiotic, they often get a mild case of diarrhea. This is likely due to the bacteria cell dying and releasing toxins into the gut. And of course,  as in the case of mild food poison, the body will try to get rid of toxins. Therefore, you may get a mild laxative effect when drinking apple cider vinegar if your gut health is poor. Then too, the amount that you drink each day will play a role in this as well. So, if you know that you have really poor gut health, start with a basic apple cider vinegar recipe to see how your body feels. Then, you can add more apple cider vinegar “with mother” as your tolerance increases.

7. Destroys Resistant Bacteria

After being on a high carb diet for many years, we give bacteria, viruses, and fungi a feast. Therefore, we crave high carb foods. When a person start a low carb diet, they began to starve some of the excess germs in our gut. Well, apple cider vinegar can curb our cravings for carby foods because it destroys bad bacteria. The Burns Journal reports that the microbiological spectrum of acetic acid is wide. Therefore, the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar includes it being an effective broad spectrum antibiotic. It is capable of treating bacteria that is typically resistant to prescribed drugs like streptococci, staphylococci, pseudomonas, enterococci, and others.

8. Normalize Intestinal Bacteria (Prevent Candida)

One cause of candida overgrowth is bad bacteria outnumbering the good bacteria in our intestinal tract. Therefore, a low carb diet helps by reducing the food supply to bad bacteria and yeast. In the end, you starve some yeast and some bad bacteria. And ultimately, reduce food cravings. Then, when you add the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar, you can start normalizing intestinal bacteria.

9. Reduces Risk of Cancer

Research shows that one of the health benefits of vinegar is a reduced risk of cancer. One study provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, reports a reduction of metastatic liver disease on unresectable tumors when vinegar (acetic acid) is injected into the lesion in combination with other therapy. Therefore, when we drink apple cider vinegar with mother we are preventing certain types of cancer.

Conclusion

If you have made it this far, you can see for yourself how drinking apple cider vinegar on a low carb diet is extremely beneficial. As an oncology professional, I know that a low carb diet can benefit individuals with certain cancers because most cancers love sugar!
